Northern Soul
The Dancing, music and culture of the UK Northern Soul Scene has been for me a recurring subject for images expressing togetherness/loneliness, inclusion/exclusion. These works are also a commentary on a long-lived love affair with Black American Soul music. They are visual markers of exploration through 3 decades of music, dancing, people and places,.
Vienna In The Dark
Intitially drawn live in 2014 on location at The Sound Of Soul Soul All-nighter, at The Rote Bar, Volks Theater, Vienna, but left very unfinished. Later reworked with several further pastel layers and additional figures added on a later visit and finally finished in 2020 in the studio. Pastel on Canson paper. 75cm x 55cm.
