The Dancing, music and culture of the UK Northern Soul Scene has been for me a recurring subject for images expressing togetherness/loneliness, inclusion/exclusion. These works are also a commentary on a long-lived love affair with Black American Soul music. They are visual markers of exploration through 3 decades of music, dancing, people and places,.
An original hand-drawn 4-plate offset lithographic print, 65cm x 50cm (Approx). Made in a Ltd edition of 20 whilst artist was still a student at RCA, London. 6 of the original litho edition still available. Made with ref. to an earlier charcoal drawing from which this composition was taken. This drawing was in turn made from sketches and snaps made at Soul events in the North of England in the mid 80’s, including Warringpton Parr Hall, and Bradford Queens Hall Allnighters.
